New Delhi: The government has taken a major decision to make the supply system of LPG cylinders in the capital transparent and controlled. Now, the sale of LPG cylinders directly from warehouses has been completely banned. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have issued clear instructions to all gas distributors, stating that selling cylinders directly from warehouses will be considered illegal. If any distributor violates these rules, strict action will be taken against them.
The government has decided to provide relief to migrant workers by providing them with smaller 5-kg LPG cylinders. This will benefit those temporarily residing in cities and unable to afford larger cylinders. A help desk has also been established to address consumer issues, allowing people to easily register their complaints and needs.
Availability of LPG Cylinders
The availability of 5-kg small LPG cylinders has now been significantly increased across the city. These cylinders are being made available at gas agencies through Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), making them easily available to those in need. According to the government, 5-kg LPG cylinders can be obtained simply by presenting a valid identification card. Address verification will not be required.
The entire process has been simplified and expedited. This decision will benefit migrant laborers, renters, and citizens who have come to the city for temporary employment. Previously, the requirement for address proof to obtain larger cylinders was a challenge for many. The government has made this effort to simplify this system and ensure access to LPG for all those in need.
In addition to increasing the availability of smaller 5-kg cylinders, special help desks have also been established to assist. According to government information, 11 dedicated help desks have been set up at selected HPCL outlets.
The government is continuously monitoring the LPG supply system in the capital to ensure it remains smooth. Rekha Gupta stated that the LPG supply is being continuously monitored to ensure no disruptions occur and all regulations are followed.
The Chief Minister appealed to citizens not to crowd gas agencies or warehouses, stating that all booked cylinders are being delivered to consumers’ homes on time. According to the government, the LPG distribution system is being actively monitored, and any irregularities or discrepancies are being addressed immediately.
