Shreyas Iyer was fined ₹12 lakh for his slow over rate. In the IPL match versus Gujrat Titans in New Chandigarh, he violated Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct regarding minimum over rate.

According to the BCCI, this is the first offence of the season by the Punjab Kings and there is a monetary penalty against Shreyas Iyer. There is no other sanction for this or other offences. Despite leading his team to an exciting three-wicket win, he has been subject to disciplinary action because of an over rate violation.

The match was very exciting. Punjab Kings went through some tense moments after a middle order collapse. At one point while trying to chase down 163 runs, they were in control of the game with a 77-run partnership by Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Connolly. All of a sudden the Kings collapsed to 118 for 6 after being at one stage 110 for 2 – leaving everyone concerned that they would lose the match.

Connolly was calm and collected while scoring 72 not out on 44 balls, supported by Xavier Bartlett. Once again he was the hero for the Punjab Kings with his innings under great pressure and earned the Player of the Match award for it.
