PM Modi reached the tea gardens of Assam: PM Narendra Modi is on a visit to Assam for the Assam Assembly Elections. PM Modi reached Dibrugarh in Assam on Wednesday morning. Seeing the tea gardens here, PM Modi’s love for tea once again flourished. PM Modi reached the tea garden early in the morning and started plucking tea leaves along with the women. PM Modi also took selfies with the women and interacted with them.
PM Modi shared photos of the tea plantations on his Instagram handle. Sharing some photos of the Dibrugarh tea plantations, PM Modi wrote, “Tea is the soul of Assam. The tea produced here has earned worldwide recognition.”
PM Modi further wrote that after plucking the tea leaves, the women kept talking to me about their culture. Then we took a selfie. The PM said, “We are very proud of the efforts of all the tea plantation families. Their hard work and dedication have further enhanced the reputation of Assam.”
According to the Assam State Portal, the state produces around 630-700 million kilograms of tea every year, which is more than half of India’s total production.
Assembly elections are scheduled for April 9 in Assam, with results declared on May 4. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma faces the challenge of bringing the BJP back to power on his own, while the Congress appears to be giving him a direct fight.
Meanwhile, PM Modi’s visit to the tea garden and taking photographs clearly means that BJP wants to convey that the party stands firmly with the people working in the tea gardens of Assam.
