Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s I Am Buddha Productions have announced their collaboration for a new film, ‘Operation Sindoor.’ The film is based on the book ‘Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan’ by Lieutenant General KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd.), and will be directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri.
The film is inspired by India’s targeted military strikes against terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These operations marked a significant moment in India’s strategic history, demonstrating precision and determination in response to the 2025 Pahalgam massacre, which killed many innocent civilians, mostly tourists.
Producer Bhushan Kumar described the project as a story that needs to be told with honesty and responsibility. He said, “Some stories aren’t chosen; they choose you. ‘Operation Sindoor’ is one such story, a story that needs to be told with honesty, courage, and responsibility. It’s not just a film. It’s a revelation. When a nation goes through such significant events, it’s important to document them truthfully.”
Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri emphasized the film’s authenticity and strategic clarity. He said, “With ‘Operation Sindoor,’ India not only avenged the Pahalgam terror attack and punished Pakistan, but also demonstrated its strength in modern warfare. We conducted extensive, on-the-ground research in collaboration with multiple branches of the Indian Armed Forces to understand not only what happened, but also how and why. What emerges is a far more complex, far more nuanced, and far more disturbing truth than what is available in the public domain.”
Agnihotri further stated that the film aims to present a story of courage and professionalism, avoiding sensationalism while providing a compelling cinematic experience. He said, “My intention is not to create noise, but to confront it, with facts, with clarity and with the magic of cinema.”
While further details regarding the cast and release date are yet to be revealed, “Operation Sindoor” marks the first collaboration of this scale and subject between Bhushan Kumar and Vivek Agnihotri. The film is expected to blend real-life events with a cinematic narrative, thus continuing the trend of stories with political and historical roots in mainstream Hindi cinema.
