Jabalpur– The High Court of Madhya Pradesh has already taken note of the alleged anomalies in the results of MSc nursing exams and has served notices to major officials at the Medical Science University of the state. The court has ordered the Registrar and the Controller of Examinations to appear in person and give an account of the evaluation procedure used to examine the answer sheets.
The case was heard by a division bench comprising Justices Vivek Rusia and Vivek Mittal. The bench challenged the lack of transparency in the evaluation system and, in particular, the procedure for handling student complaints about varying results.
The court has also invited the representatives of the digital evaluation agency that assesses the examination papers, as well as the university authorities. This bench pointed to the need to be clear about how marks were given and whether due procedures were followed during the evaluation.
Premlata Tiwari, a resident of Jabalpur, filed the petition, claiming that the marking system creates gross disadvantages. This complaint pointed out cases in which good students were said to receive zero or abnormally low grades, which should have raised questions about the possibility of error or laxity in assigning such grades.
Other students have also raised the same allegation, claiming that their major subjects were not graded appropriately, which has greatly affected their academic history and future.
With these issues in mind, the High Court has instructed all parties to provide elaborate explanations at the next hearing, scheduled for April 8. The case is hoped to draw broader implications for transparency and accountability in examinations within the state’s higher education system.
