Bhopal: Preparations for Holi and Rangpanchami, the festivals of colors, are in full swing, but the health department has taken strict measures to ensure public safety. On the instructions of Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Manish Sharma, orders have been issued to keep emergency services running 24 hours a day in all government hospitals in the capital. During Holi, cases of skin irritation, itchy and red eyes, breathing problems, and road accidents typically increase, so the department is on full alert.

The Health Department has directed every government hospital to reserve at least 10 beds so that patients can be admitted immediately in case of an emergency. 108 ambulances have been ordered to be stationed in key and sensitive areas to ensure rapid response to any incident. A special duty roster has been developed for emergency staff. Hospitals have been ensured to have adequate supplies of eye drops, anti-allergic medications, burn treatment kits, and other essential medicines.
Doctors’ advice and advisory
The Chief Medical Officer (CMHO) has urged people to avoid chemical-based colors. If color gets into your eyes, do not rub them, but instead wash them with clean water. If you experience any breathing, skin, or eye problems, immediately seek medical help at the nearest hospital. Stay away from intoxicants and celebrate Holi safely.
