KISHTWAR: In a significant blow to the terror infrastructure in the region, security forces neutralized two terrorists affiliated with the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit on Sunday. The encounter took place in the rugged Passerkut area of the Chatroo belt in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district as part of the ongoing Operation Trashi-I.
The operation was spearheaded by the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps in a coordinated effort with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). According to an official statement, the joint teams acted on “credible intelligence inputs” collated from police and other intelligence agencies regarding the presence of foreign terrorists in the dense forest region.
“Pursuant to credible intelligence inputs collated from #JKP, #IB and own intelligence sources, a deliberate joint operation was launched in the Kishtwar region under Operation Trashi-I to track and neutralise terrorists operating in the area”, wrote White Chinar Corps on X.
The Encounter
The gunfight erupted at approximately 11:00 AM when the search parties closed in on a hideout located within a mud structure at the base of a hill. The holed-up terrorists opened fire on the approaching troops, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire. Utilizing tactical precision and seamless synergy, the security forces successfully dominated the site, resulting in the elimination of both insurgents.
Initial reports identify the slain terrorists as Pakistani nationals who were active members of JeM. Following the engagement, a search of the site led to the recovery of significant “war-like stores,” including two AK-47 rifles, loaded magazines, and other ammunition.
