The department has said that during government programmes, the national song Vande Mataram should not be sung in an incomplete form but in its complete form with all six verses.

The Department of Training and Technical Education (DTTE), Delhi Government, has issued an important order on Tuesday saying that during government programmes, the national song Vande Mataram should not be sung in an incomplete form but in its complete form. The department has clarified that this directive will be applicable to all the government offices, training institutes and educational institutions where the programme starts with the national anthem.

The order issued states that the purpose of this step is to bring uniformity in the singing of the national anthem in government events and to end the practice of singing only a few paragraphs or selected portions. The department observed that in many official events only some parts of the national anthem are sung, which affects its basic structure and spirit. Keeping this in mind, DTTE has banned ‘selective singing’ and directed to sing the entire song in the prescribed manner. The order also states that the officials organizing the event should ensure through mutual coordination that the national anthem is sung without any error, in the prescribed format and collectively.

The department clarified that officials in charge of institutions should ensure that the national anthem is performed in its entirety and in the prescribed format. The order also suggested that daily activities in schools and colleges could begin with the collective singing of the national anthem to foster national spirit among students and staff.
