Bhopal. The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) Class 12 board exams began yesterday, but cases of cheating surfaced on the very first day. Seven students were caught cheating in the English paper, six of them from a private school in the Bairasia area of Bhopal district. One case was reported from a government school.
Students had concealed the papers inside their clothes during the exam. Live monitoring of CCTV cameras from a central control room detected suspicious activity, prompting a flying squad to be dispatched to the school and prompt action.
Key Points:
- Total copying cases: A total of 13 cases were registered in the state on the first day (7 in Bhopal, rest in other districts).
- A Bhopal centre: Six students were caught in a private school in Bairasia, where chits were found hidden in their clothes.
- A government school case: 1 student was caught cheating from a government centre in Bhopal.
- CCTV coverage: This time CCTV cameras have been installed at 226 examination centres in 9 districts, which are being monitored live from the central control room.
- The purpose of the crackdown: The MPBSE has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against cheating. In suspected cases, disciplinary action has also been ordered against invigilators.
Nearly 700,000 students are taking the 12th grade exams at 3,856 examination centers across the state, while a total of over 1.6 million students are appearing for the 10th and 12th grade exams. The exams are running from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Officials say efforts are underway to prevent cheating with high-tech systems like flying squads, jammers, and CCTV. Students and parents have been urged to take the exams honestly and stay away from any fraudulent leaks or cheating apps.
