A bird flu alert has been issued in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Over 1500 crows have been found dead in Chennai. Lab tests have confirmed the H5N1 virus. The cause of death of the crows has been stated as H5N1, i.e. bird flu. Health officials have issued an advisory for the general public to prevent the spread of this disease. Officials have directed that all carcasses of crows and poultry should be either burned or buried in a deep pit as per biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of the H5N1 virus.

Officials have been advised to increase surveillance, limit bird movement in affected areas, and implement appropriate response protocols. Authorities have urged people to report bird deaths and refrain from handling dead birds or animals. Officials have been instructed to safely bury the carcasses of infected birds in pits at least 8 feet deep to prevent the spread of infection.
