Initially, there were seven deaths, but the number has now risen to 31. The Municipal Corporation has now announced high-tech monitoring of drainage and drinking water lines, but affected families say this is coming too late.

The Municipal Commissioner and Mayor have stated that the supply of contaminated water has been stopped and clean water is being delivered to the affected areas by tankers.
