Sukma. A major breakthrough has been achieved in restoring peace in the Naxal-affected region. Abandoning violence, 29 Naxalites active in the Darbha and Keralapal Area Committees surrendered before Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan, ASP Rohit Shah, and CRPF 74th Battalion Commandant Himanshu Pandey.

The establishment of a security camp in the Gogunda area has effectively curbed Naxalite activities. The steadily increasing security presence, accelerated development work, and the government’s rehabilitation policy have encouraged Naxalites to return to the mainstream. All the surrendered Naxalites had long been active within the Darbha and Keralapal Area Committees and were involved in various Naxalite activities.

On this occasion, Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan said that the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy is providing Naxalites an opportunity to give up violence and live a respectable life. ASP Rohit Shah said that to ensure peace and development in the area, along with the action of the security forces, emphasis is also being laid on dialogue and trust building. CRPF 74th Battalion Commandant Himanshu Pandey said that the establishment of the camp in Gogunda has strengthened the security system of the area, which has increased the confidence of the common citizens and weakened the influence of Naxalites.
