The owners of the Goa nightclub where a ferocious fire killed 25 people have been deported out and are on their way back to India, the Goa Police officials confirmed. The two are likely to reach the Indira Gandhi international Airport in Delhi around 1:55 pm and a Goan Police party will already be present to arrest them.

The officials indicated that the brothers will be officially arrested at the Delhi airport and produced before the Patiala House Court later in the same day to request transit remand. After receiving the permission, they will be accompanied by a team of Goa Police to Goa by Tuesday night to continue with the legal proceedings. A senior police official claimed that this was planned long before so that they could easily be transferred and the investigation process would not be held up.

The Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, Goa, which the Luthra brothers owned, was on fire during the night between December 6 and 7 when the fatal fire started. Shortly after the event, they reportedly ran out of India and went to Thailand. Thai police officers then arrested the brothers at a hotel in Phuket last week, after a request by Indian authorities. The Indian government then seized their passports and a Blue Notice was placed on them by Interpol in order to keep a track on their movements.

Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra have been charged with culpable homicide or death not equal to murder, acts that are life threatening and dangerous to human life, and negligent behavior against fire or any combustible materials under different sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which are Section 105, 125(a) and 125(b) respectively.

The FIR also accuses the accused that at the moment of the incident, he arranged a performance involving fire in the nightclub without proper safety preparations.
