New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday handed over appointment letters to 36 more families affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots for the post of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) during a function organised at the Delhi Secretariat. These government jobs were provided after 41 years of riots to help heal the wounds of the affected families.

This is being considered an important step towards their rehabilitation. The Chief Minister was accompanied by several dignitaries, including her cabinet colleague Manjinder Singh Sirsa, at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, “The government jobs provided by our government to the 1984 Sikh riot victims and their dependents provide them with financial support as well as a strong foundation towards a dignified and secure life.” She said the Delhi government’s aim is to provide lasting support to the families who have been waiting for justice and rehabilitation for decades.

She further added that this is not just a program to provide jobs, but a concrete initiative to honor the long wait and struggle of those families. The 1984 anti-Sikh riots have been a very painful chapter in our history. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts have been made to provide justice and dignity to the affected families. Carrying forward that spirit, the Delhi government is taking concrete steps to provide dignified livelihoods and a secure future to the affected families.

The Chief Minister said that the gathering held at the Red Fort on the 350th martyrdom day of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was an opportunity for us to serve and fulfill our duty. The love and respect I received from the families for that service today was a deeply moving moment for me.

A few months ago, 19 families were given appointment letters, and today, 36 more families have been provided jobs. These appointments are proof that the government stands with the affected families and is giving them every opportunity to move forward with dignity. The CM said that this is not just help, but a responsibility. This is not a formality, it is respect and a genuine effort to secure the future while remembering the suffering of the past.
