Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday revealed that he was very worried about the aura of suspicion that existed among people of this Union Territory after the recent explosion in Delhi. During an event in Kulgam, he stated that he was making an unjust narrative, where he was portraying the entire Kashmiri community as guilty because of the activities of a few individuals.

Citing the recently reported explosion of November 10 near the Red Fort, which was reportedly done by Dr Umar Un Nabi of Pulwama, Abdullah claimed that the current acts were causing generalisation and mistrust on a large scale. He pointed out that two more Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie of Pulwama and Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag were also associated with what investigators termed a white-collar terror cell.

Omar Abdullah cautioned that the developments were taking a psychological toll on the common citizens particularly students and the working professionals who have to travel beyond the region. In the current scenario, parents are not that ready to send their kids out. When everyone suspects us, and when there are efforts to slander an entire community as the work of a very small number of individuals, we have no natural way of going outside, he said.

He emphasized the fact that the Delhi blast was being carried out by a small group of people, but there was a wrong and harmful impression being spread that everyone in Kashmir was a complicit party. This kind of generalisation, he said, was very unjust and destructive to harmony in society.

The Chief Minister also pointed out the increasing sense of insecurity among Kashmiris who travelled in India as he pointed out that even driving a vehicle with J&K registration number in Delhi had become something to worry about.
