On Wednesday, Romania scramled fighter jets initially, when an attack drone momentarily entered its airspace as Russia launched another wave of attack on Ukraine, which is its defence country. The signal of the unknown drone, which received the immediate military reaction, was announced, and the German Eurofighter Typhoons, two of the Romanian air force aircraft of F-16 of Mihail Kogalnicanu air base and Campia Turzii air base has been put into the air.

Romanian authorities asserted that the drone was initially spotted flying in state airspace and flying nearly eight kilometres between Periprava and Chilia Veche in the Tulcea County before heading back to the Ukrainian land. The aircraft crashed in Moldova airspace and landed in Romania some seconds later, in the direction of Foltești, in the Galați County. Romanian radar later lost signal of the drone and no sign of debris and location of impact were discovered.

According to the statement of the defence ministry, the drone returned on radar short time 12 times, which was after the ongoing Russian airstrike off the Romania borders. Another message that was made by the ministry was that there was no aircraft crashed against the earth that gave the countersent to the people in the affected areas. However, the event brings out the increasing regional concerns, with the collision of aerial space of neighbouring NATO countries getting more and more influenced by the war in Ukraine.

The episode unfolded when Ukraine was being targeted in one of the most active actions in the last several weeks with bombing. As indicated by the president of Ukraine, Muranovsky, more than 470 attack drones and 48 missiles are dropped by Russia in a single night, striking major cities and infrastructure. The attack was among the most stringent attacks by the result of which, according to Zelensky, the pressure on air defence systems in Ukraine increased.
