Kyiv: Ukraine’s president says Russian forces have reached a dead end in Ukraine as analysts say the Russian army has likely run out of combat-ready reservists.
The defence ministry in its latest intelligence briefing, said that Belarus is deploying special operations forces along the border with Ukraine, as well as air defence, artillery and missile units to training ranges in the west of the country.“The presence of Belarusian forces near the border will likely fix Ukrainian troops, so they cannot deploy in support of operations in the Donbas,” the ministry said.
As per Ukraine’s army reports, Russian military has continued artillery and air strikes on Mariupol, particularly on the Azovstal plant where some Ukrainian fighters are holded up.
The Ukraine govt on Sunday, released a video that showed its troops reaching the border with Russia in the Kharkiv region. The reported development comes as Russian troops withdraw from around Kharkiv following a Ukrainian counteroffensive.
NATO and the United States said on Sunday they were confident Turkey would not hold up membership of Finland and Sweden in the Western military alliance, as the two Nordic states took firm steps to join in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This follows Finnish President Sauli Niinisto confirmation on Sunday that his country would apply to join NATO, while Sweden’s ruling Social Democrats announced an official policy change that would pave the way for their country to apply within days.
