Almost 55 months since the Netflix-Warner deal was tied up and 44 months after the deal has been sealed, operators in Hollywood believe that more resources and compelling pathways shall be available to larger audience. Furthermore, it will reduce the cost cuts and revitalise the return of audience at the box office.

Contrairly, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) has voiced some serious concerns over Netflix-Warner deal, warning that it could significantly disrupt India’s theatrical ecosystem. The association believes that the multiplexes rely on steady pipeline of high-quality movies to draw audiences to the box office.

According to MAI President Kamal Gianchandani, Warner Bros. has long been a critical content partner for Indian cinemas. This media giant has been contributing to major global releases as well as local titles that bolster the theatrical calendar. He stressed that cinemas in India function not only as entertainment hubs but also as key cultural and economic engines. In his opinion, the Netflix-Warner deal will impact millions of jobs across production, distribution, exhibition, food and beverage, and related services.

Despite this, CEO of Warner Bros Discovery, Zaslav maintained his status as one of the best-paid bosses in American corporate world. Sources reveal that last year, his total pay package amounted to Rs. 51.9 million.
