All impediments to the World Health Organization (WHO) approving the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus have been removed, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko stated at a press conference in Geneva. “As of today, all impediments have been removed. We don’t perceive any impediments to our progress. The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Margaret Chan acknowledged this,” he said.
He met with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Geneva, where they reviewed the procedure for placing Sputnik V on the organization’s list of vaccines recommended for emergency use in the battle against coronavirus infection. Following the conference, he stated: “The Russian Federation’s perspective on the promotion and registration of the Russian Sputnik V vaccination was heard. To date, we have entirely rectified all difficulties.”
According to the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the efficacy of the Sputnik V vaccination has been validated at 91.6 percent after the findings of a Phase III clinical trial were published in the Lancet, one of the world’s oldest and most famous medical publications.
Sputnik V has a 97.6% efficacy rate, according to an examination of data from 3.8 million Russians who have been vaccinated.
