World: The WHO in an obscured meeting on Friday proposed five priorities for the next phase of the investigation. In an opening statement, the world health body said that the second stage of an investigation into the origins of coronavirus should include further studies in China and lab “audits”.
As per an official report, the list includes audits of relevant laboratories and research institutions operating in the area of the initial human cases identified in December 2019″. WHO Chief also suggested the investigators prioritized studies on geographic areas that reported circulation of the virus first.
He also called for a detailed study of animal markets in and around the National Virology lab at Wuhan. The UN health agency has been under intensifying pressure for a new, more in-depth investigation of Covid-19’s origins.
Despite the stringent protocols and scrutinization, the novel virus seized the Tokyo Olympics. In an official announcement on Saturday, the Tokyo Olympics organizers revealed the first Covid-19 case in the Games Village was detected. “There was one person in the Village. That was the very first case in the Village that was reported during the screening test,” Masa Takaya, spokesman for the Tokyo organizing committee, said. As per the local news reporters, the COVID positive individual is said to be a foreign national and has been isolated.
Officials announced plans to implement a daily testing system to track new developments.
