US Occupation of Venezuela: Venezuela has been occupied by the United States. Following the US attack on the capital, Caracas, President Nicolas Maduro was arrested and brought to New York. The US has named this operation Operation Absolute Resolve, while President Donald Trump has announced that the US will now run Venezuela. This action has raised tensions worldwide.
Earlier, after a massive airstrike, President Nicolas Maduro was detained and brought to New York. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were brought to the United States at midnight on January 4th. A US military plane landed at Stuart Air National Guard Base in New York. Maduro was removed from the plane amid tight security.
According to eyewitnesses, more than a dozen federal agents surrounded him, while a total of more than three dozen US federal agents were present on the runway. They were wearing blue jackets and had their faces covered. Maduro and his wife were kept in a hangar on the base, where they underwent medical examinations. Media reports claimed that 40 people, including civilians and soldiers, were killed in the Venezuelan attack.
Maduro was then taken to Manhattan, New York City, where legal proceedings were conducted. He is now being transported to Brooklyn, where he will be held at the Metropolitan Detention Center. He will be tried in Manhattan federal court next week on drug and arms trafficking charges. US troops invaded Venezuela on the night of January 3rd and kidnapped President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
Donald Trump stated that the US strikes overnight resulted in Maduro’s arrest and that the US would now run Venezuela. The US strikes have been strongly condemned by several countries, including Latin America, Europe, Russia, and China. These countries have called for a de-escalation of tensions and a halt to the situation.
The action comes at a time when the US is already increasing pressure on Venezuela, having recently targeted boats allegedly involved in drug smuggling. However, Caracas has also hinted at talks on anti-narcotics cooperation.
