United Kingdom: Tributes Flow in After Buckingham Palace Confirmed Death of Duke of Edinburgh

Buckingham Palace: Prince Philip, 99 , the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, breathed last on Friday. “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty the Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle,” the Buckingham Palace tweeted.

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex shared a message in the wake of Prince Philip’s death, saying the Duke of Edinburgh “will be greatly missed”.

Set on a full-screen dark background, the message read,” In loving memory of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh; 1921-2021. Thank you for your service… you will be greatly missed.”

British Ministry of Défense reported saluting batteries firing 41 rounds at one round per minute across the United Kingdom, Gibraltar, and on British navy ships at sea at noon on Saturday.
