Kyiv: Air alarms were sounded in Kyiv as Russian forces advance closer to the capital said Ukraine Defence Dept on Monday morning. Only roads to the south remain open and Kyiv is preparing to mount a “relentless defence”, according to the Ukrainian president’s office.
Reportedly, 9 died in renewed air strikes on an airport in the west, heavy shelling on Chernihiv northeast of the capital and on the southern town of Mykolayiv. Meanwhile, the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration said that there will be no “green corridors” in the region on March 14.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday urged NATO to impose a no-fly zone over his country. He warned that its member states would soon be attacked by Russian forces after an air strike hit a Ukrainian military base close to the Polish border.
UN agencies called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to attacks on healthcare professionals and facilities in Ukraine, which have killed 12 people, describing them as acts of “unconscionable cruelty”.According to the conglomerate, around 2.7million people have displaced since the invasion.
Both the nations are scheduled to have the fourth round of negotiations. Since Putin opened fire, both the sides have met thrice in Belarus where ‘green corridor’ was focused primarily.
