Former Afghan president Ashraf Ghani who flew out of the country after the Taliban occupied Kabul leaving behind the fate of his countrymen hanging has been “welcomed” by the UAE govt. Ghani had left the Afghan province on Sunday evening without any formal announcement.

Commenting on the welcoming move by the UAE Govt, an official of the foreign ministry said, “The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation can confirm that the UAE has welcomed President Ashraf Ghani and his family into the country on humanitarian grounds”.

Ghani, on the other hand, gave a statement that he fled the country to stop the “flood of bloodshed” after the Taliban army barged into the presidential palace. In his statement, he said, “The Taliban have won with the judgment of their swords and guns, and are now responsible for the honor, property, and self-preservation of their countrymen”. The Taliban declared that their ‘war’ is over now and that they are looking forward to making Afghanistan a glorifying country to live in for its citizens.
