Washington: Dr Anthony Fauci, chief medical advisor for COVID-19 tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. The National Institute of health informing the development said- He is currently experiencing mild symptoms.

The 81-year-old, Bidens advisor is fully vaccinated and double boosted. He, however, has not been in contact with President Biden in recent days.

He would continue working from home as per the COVID-19 guideline by the CDC and return to the office once he tests negative, the NIH further said.

Fauci is Biden’s chief medical adviser and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He was a leading member of the White House coronavirus task force under former President Donald Trump. As a longtime director, he has led the US response to every pandemic since 1984.

Earlier this week, U.S. Health Secretary Xavier Becerra tested positive for the virus. It was the second time Becerra had come down with symptoms and tested positive.
