Texas has experienced severe flooding in a number of counties with the towns of Llano being flooded dramatically with the passage of the Llano River flowing through the city of Llano on July 4. To effectively conduct urgent rescue, relief, and recovery, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has likewise declared a disaster in the worst-stricken counties, such as the Llano County and Kerr County. It is reported that a number of individuals lost their lives in Kerr County as a result of the floods and several children are still missing at Camp Mystic which is a Christian summer camp along the banks of Guadalupe River.
Posted on X (previously Twitter) with a title, Timelapse flooding of the Llano River on July 4th, the viral-video takes us through the typical normal flow of the river before it starts rising exponentially and shows its final overflows and breaking boundaries thus dragging the surrounding grounds within its flow.
Scholars have cited climate change as the major cause of such extreme weather conditions. According to Kristina Dahl, vise president of science at Climate central, an independent science non-profitable organisation, since 1970 Central Texas has experienced a rise of about 20 percent increase in the heaviest storms. This pattern, Dahl continued, is not only seen in the United States but the world over as increase in warmer climate leads to the occurrences of more extremes in rainfall patterns.
Emergency services are still going on searching the missing citizens and estimating the damage produced by the terrible floods. Residents have also been advised to be cautious, stay out of floods and observe safety guidelines because weather is still uncertain.
More about rescue work and overall consequences of the flooding will be reported.
