Kabul: Around 70 people in Kabul, mostly women, rallied outside the Pakistan Embassy today. Hundreds of Afghans took to the streets of Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif against the Taliban rule and in support of the resistance movement led by Ahmad Massoud.

These people were holding banners and chanting against meddling by Islamabad. The Taliban fired shots in the air to disperse dozens of people who were protesting against Pakistan’s involvement in Afghan affairs.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s ruling emir and visiting United States secretaries of state and defense have discussed developments in Afghanistan. The visit came as Washington sought support for the evacuation of Americans after the Taliban takeover. Sources reveal that the US has been trying to build a consensus among its allies on how to respond to the new Islamic rulers.

Earlier on August, 15, the Taliban captured Kabul. Taliban Spokesperson, Zuabiullah Mujahid had said that the war in Afghanistan is over and a formal announcement for the formation of the new government will be made in the coming days.
