SYRIA: In a rare attack from Israel’s northeastern neighbor, 3 rockets were fired towards the territory which however caused no loss of life.
Only one out of three rockets from Syria crossed into Israeli territory and landed in a field in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights.
The rocket launches came at the backdrop of heightened tensions in the Palestine following Israeli police raids on the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Israel struck Palestinian militant targets in southern Lebanon and Gaza early Friday, after dozens of rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory.
The unrest comes as the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan, Jewish Passover, and Christian Easter coincide.
It is the latest violence ever since new government of veteran Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took power in December, a coalition with extreme right and ultra-Orthodox Jewish parties.
