DUBAI: The special flight to repatriate the mortal remains of Pakistan’s former military ruler Pervez Musharraf was delayed, media reports said on Monday. No details on the departure are yet revealed. The Pakistan Embassy in Dubai issued a no-objection certificate for the repatriation of Musharraf’s mortal remains to Pakistan at the request of his family, sources from the media said.
The mortal remains of the former Gen of Pakistan died in Dubai on Sunday at the age of 79. The 79-year-old former military ruler, who had been in the UAE since 2016, was undergoing treatment for amyloidosis at American Hospital Dubai. Musharraf’s mortal remains were to be flown to Pakistan on a special flight at 11:30 am local time.
The former military leader’s wife Sehba Musharraf, son Bilal and daughter Ayla will accompany the mortal remains, added the media reports. The former president will be buried in a Karachi graveyard, his family confirmed. The former president’s mother was buried in Dubai while his father was laid to rest in Karachi.
