Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is scheduled to embark on a mission to Tehran, Iran, on Monday, as confirmed by the spokesperson of the foreign ministry. This visit holds importance given the escalating tensions in the Middle East and the ongoing disputes between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Previously it was reported by the news agency that foreign ministers from Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia had received invitations for discussions. This gathering of counterparts takes place amidst relations and unresolved conflicts in the Middle East particularly regarding longstanding disputes between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Month Azerbaijan initiated a military offensive against Armenian separatists in Nagorno Karabakh, further complicating the geopolitical dynamics in the region.
Russia’s involvement in Ukraine year had reached global consequences and resulted in sanctions imposed by Western nations. In response to these challenges, Russia has been seeking support and economic partnerships with Iran. Both countries have faced sanctions which have motivated them to align their interests and strengthen their cooperation.
Accusations made by nations that Iran supported Russia’s operations in Ukraine by providing substantial quantities of drones and weaponry have raised concerns and suspicions within the international community.
