On Tuesday, Russia intensified its missile and drone attacks on Ukraine with targets, including the capital, Kyiv. The Ukrainian Air Force issued a ballistic missile warning at 3:00 a.m., and there were reports of explosions in Kyiv after 30 minutes. A second missile alert was raised at 8:00 a.m.; more blasts rocked the city. Still, no deaths or destruction in the area were reported: only a fragment of a missile was found in the Darnytskyi district.

Russian forces struck regions near the Shostka city in the Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine. The mayor, Mykola Noha, reports that at least 12 residential buildings and two educational facilities were affected. Other social infrastructure objects were damaged as well, but more detailed information has yet to be released. The air forces reported further missile and drone attacks in other parts of Ukraine, including missile and drone attacks on different other regions.

The current fighting situation has inflicted considerable losses to Ukraine’s energy complex; according to available information, about 50 percent of Ukraine’s energy facilities. Therefore, frequent power outages are experienced throughout the country, with equal distribution between the developed regions of the country and the countryside. Even with the supply of air defence systems by Ukraine’s allies in the West, the Russian army has used this tactic of saturation, where they use many missiles and drones to overwhelm Ukraine.

They stem at the time when there is increased certainty of the evolving course of the War; U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, expected to be sworn in next month, has suggested he wants the War ended, thus creating doubts over the continuation of crucial military support to Ukraine. This is the position after the war approaches its third year with a possibility of increased conflict since both sides are prepared for it.
