Kyiv: As Russia continued its campaign to seize the whole industrialised Donbas region, fierce fighting raged near the eastern Ukrainian town of Pisky.

On the battle lines, just 10 kilometres from the northwest of the provincial capital Donetsk, separatist and Russian forces were in charge, according to a representative of the Russia-backed Donetsk People’s Republic. In Pisky, it’s hot. Although there are still isolated pockets of resistance in the town’s north and west, the town is still ours, said the official, Danil Bezsonov, on the instant messaging platform Telegram. However, Ukrainian officials denied that the heavily fortified town, which was essential to defending Donetsk, had fallen.

” Kyiv accused Moscow of carrying out rockets attacks that resulted in the deaths of 13 civilians in locations close to nuclear power plants. In response to mounting concerns about a potential disaster, the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) economic powers have urged Moscow to promptly return the complete Ukrainian management over the troubled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power facility in Ukraine. The G7 foreign ministers expressed concern that Russia’s actions put the people of Ukraine, its neighbours, and the rest of the world in danger by sharply increasing the likelihood of a nuclear event.

In order to prevent a default on its debt, Ukraine requested a two-year suspension of payments on around $20 billion in foreign bonds from its creditors abroad. Denys Shmyhal, the prime minister of Ukraine, claimed that the decision will save his nation about $6 billion while stabilising its economy and strengthening its military.
