As the head of Lviv said, the Russia troops had ambushed critical energy infrastructure in the Stryi district and a power generating facility in the Chervonohrad district of western Ukraine on Wednesday, September 21st. The missile launch caused a fire in the power generation facility; therefore the emergency services were dispatched immediately as well. However, fortunately, there were no reported casualties as a result of this attack. Casualties were not reported across the Lviv region.

DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private electricity company, confirmed significant equipment damage at three thermal power plants due to Russia’s air attack. They reported the severity of the damage on the Telegram messaging app, stating that power engineers were currently engaged in efforts to address the aftermath of the assault.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy disclosed the information on the Telegram channel with new Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, precisely on over 50 missiles and 20 drones during the night. More to point, it was the victims’ commemoration day, and that showcases a premeditated plan.

In his speech, Zelenskiy underlined the importance of global clarification towards the perpetrators and victims regardless of the aggression rays. He has pressed a stern warning for tackling the existing global challenges intensified now by hate and intolerance ideologies promoters.

Invasions on critical infrastructure in the capital city blatantly make people aware of the long-time war and the destructive power which affects both civilians and essential services provision. Larger scale events, however, such as the one we are obsering, should remind us that as emergency services strive to deal with the immediate fallout of the attack, the situation poses significant challenges for energy provision and the infrastructure stability in the region.
