In his congratulating Tweet, Juster wrote, “Congratulations to (Prime Minister) @narendramodi (Narendra Modi) for the well-deserved Legion of Merit. We greatly appreciate your commitment to a strong US-India partnership”. The ambassador added, “Similar awards were given to PM (Shinzo) Abe and PM (Scott) Morrison, recognizing our leaders’ shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific”.
The medal was presented by US President Biden and was received by Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu on behalf of the Indian Prime Minister, as the latter could not be physically present at the award-giving ceremony.
