Peshawar: A powerful bomb explosion shook the city of Peshawar in Pakistan on Monday, resulting in the death of a security force member and leaving others wounded. The explosive device was intentionally targeted at a vehicle belonging to the Frontier Corps (FC), a force, near a hospital complex. Ongoing rescue efforts are underway to assist the injured victims.

The blast occurred on Warsak Road in Peshawar, with the primary target being FC personnel. Among those wounded were five FC officials, along with a police officer. This attack occurred in front of Prime Hospital, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The Pakistani Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for this act shedding light on the security challenges faced by the region. The improvised explosive device (IED) detonated close to an FC van while traveling along Warsak Road, resulting in damage and casualties.

Mohammad Arshad Khan, Superintendent of Police (SP) for Warsak, confirmed that an improvised explosive device was used and stated that five FC personnel and three civilians were injured due to this attack. The police have investigated the incident to determine the nature of the explosion. Ashfaq Anwar, Chief of Peshawar City Police, agreed with reports suggesting this was not a suicide bombing.
