Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which seeks independence for Balochistan from Pakistan in a statement said it took control of a train and kept hundreds of passengers hostage. Six Pakistani military personnel were also killed, the BLA said.
This train was going from Quetta to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at 9 am. Meanwhile, BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) stopped the train by blowing up the track near tunnel number 8 in Maskaf area of Bolan. When the train stopped, the fighters opened fire and then took control of the train and took the passengers hostage. During this, Baloch has also claimed to have killed 11 Pakistani soldiers.
The Jaffar Express, with over 400 passengers on board in nine bogies, was on its way from Quetta in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province to Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when it was fired on, railway officials informed.
“Over 450 passengers onboard are being held hostage by gunmen,” Muhammad Kashif, a senior railway government official in Quetta, the capital of the province, informed. “Passengers include women and children.”
While the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed that it seized control of the train by derailing it and killed six security personnel, there was no independent confirmation of their claim, reported.
