Pahalgam Terror Attack: The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will commence shortly. The high-level meeting is likely to discuss the recent security situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Cabinet Committee on Security discusses and debates defence policy, expenditure, and all matters of national security for India. It is the highest decision-making body for appointing heads of national security agencies, as well.

The meeting included top leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who were part of the committee. The National Security Advisor, Cabinet Secretary, and Defence Secretary also attend the meetings.

Disturbing videos and details have been emerging in the aftermath of the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which killed 26 tourists on Tuesday, the worst terror strike on civilians the valley has seen in years. The terrorist attack took place in Baisaran meadow, about five kilometres from the resort town of Pahalgam. As the coffins of the victims of Pahalgam terror attack reach Srinagar Airport, tourists are now returning to Delhi with immediate effect.

In a recent update, the Indian Army confirmed that an infiltration attempt was thwarted along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday.

“On 23 Apr 2025, approximately 2-3 UI terrorists tried to infiltrate through general area Sarjeevan at Uri Nala, Baramulla (in north Kashmir),” the Chinar Corps said in a post on X. Alert troops on the LoC challenged and intercepted the infiltrators, leading to a firefight, the army stated. “The operation is in progress,” it added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday morning after cutting his Saudi trip short due to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. He had a brief meeting with NSA Ajit Doval, external affairs minister S Jaishankar, and foreign secretary Vikram Misri at the airport.

At least 26 tourists have been killed after unidentified gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Pahalgam’s Baisaran in Jammu and Kashmir. Gunshots were heard in the area, following which security forces rushed there.
