Taiwan: Taiwan’s Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ) has reported a record number of incursions by the Chinese warplanes for the past three days. According to the records of the self-governing island, a total of 19 Chinese military aircraft entered the AIDZ on the night of October 2nd.
The Ministry of National Defence, Taiwan confirmed through a tweet, saying “19 PLA aircraft entered Taiwan’s southwest AIDZ on the night of October 2, 2021”.
Previously, 39 Chinese military aircraft entered the AIDZ on Saturday, and 38 planes entered on Friday. The incursions on Saturday came in two batches as 20 planes entered during the daytime hours and 19 planes entered at night. The Defence Ministry declared that there were 26 J-16 fighter jets, 10 Su-30 fighter jets, two Y-8 anti-submarine warning aircraft, and one KJ-500 airborne early warning and control plane.
The Taiwanese air force scrambled the aircraft as a response to these incursions. It issued radio warnings and deployed air defense missiles systems too.
