Jeddah: As the 22nd batch of 135 stranded Indian evacuees left IAF C-130J aircraft, it marks the completion of particularly high -isk part of the ongoing Operation Kaveri. India has evacuated dozens of members of the Hakki Pikki tribe of Karnataka from the war-torn Sudan after spending four days and three nights in buses provided to them by Indian Embassy in Khartoum to complete their journey from the western region of Darfur to the Saudi port of Jeddah via Port Sudan.
Meanwhile, a group of 16 Indians evacuees departed from Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah on a Lucknow-bound flight today. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson tweeted to give information on the same.
This comes after another flight carrying 14 evacuees departed from Jeddah for Mumbai. The efforts didn’t stop there, as the 22nd batch with 135 stranded Indian evacuees left Sudan on an IAF C-130J aircraft for Jeddah. It’s heartening to see the government’s commitment to bringing back our fellow citizens.
Earlier on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry of South Sudan issued a statement declaring a seven-day ceasefire in two warring faction in Sudan, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
