The world recorded the biggest Omicron outbreak outside its region of genesis; South Africa on Friday. At least 13 people in Oslo have been infected with Omicron following a corporate Christmas party described as a ‘super spreader event’ by health authorities. The Christmas gathering may spike the Omicron count to 60 authorities speculated.
The event was reportedly organized by renewable energy company Scatec on November 26th. 120 participants of the party are suspected to be infected with the Omicron variant, a senior physician from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health informed.“ This makes this for now the largest Omciron outbreak outside South Africa, he added.”
As per the statistics with the health department, apart from the super spreader party, two people residing in the country’s west coast and two passengers at the Oslo airport are confirmed cases of the Omicron variant.
The outbreak has led the govt to re-introduce nationwide restrictions to curb the spread.Companies have resorted to cancel Christmas and New year plans due to the emergence of the variant.
