Kathmandu: A major report stated that on Saturday, Nepal will receive 100,000 more doses of the Covid vaccine from India. A Nepal official said, “A flight of Air India carrying the vaccines is expected to land Kathmandu this afternoon. The weather condition now plays a pivotal role as there is dense smog in Nepali airspace”. The arrival of the vaccine fully depends on the weather conditions of Nepal.
The first arrival of the Covid vaccine to Nepal was in the first week of March. On the arrival of Covid vaccines in Nepal, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Indian Ambassador to Nepal said, “I welcome the first arrival of COVAX shipment of 348,000 doses of Astrazeneca ‘Covishield’ vaccines from India”.
He further added, “It is a matter of great happiness that India has been able to support and sustain Nepal’s vaccination drive on both bilateral basis as well as under WHO partner COVAX facility”.
By the end of May 2021, the COVAX facility will deliver 1.92 million vaccine doses to Nepal. This will be done in support of Nepal’s government nation-wide vaccine campaign. A report stated, “With the generous contribution of the Government of India, Nepal was able to commence the vaccination campaign and to date, 429,705 people have been vaccinated”.
