NASA Launch Artemis II Mission: The Artemis II mission of the American space agency NASA has been successfully launched. The huge SLS rocket took off into the sky at 3:54 am Indian time from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In this mission, four astronauts – Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen – will go to the moon in the Orion capsule. This is the first time after ‘Apollo-17’ in 1972 (after about 54 years) that a human will cross the lower orbit of the Earth (LEO) and reach close to the moon. All four astronauts will orbit the moon in the spacecraft and then return to Earth. This mission is of 10 days.
The mission involves a four-member crew…
- Reid Wiseman (Mission Commander)
- Victor Glover (pilot) – first Black astronaut to walk on the Moon
- Christina Koch (Mission Specialist) – First woman to fly on a lunar mission
- Jeremy Hansen (Mission Specialist) – first Canadian astronaut to walk on the Moon
These four are now moving towards the moon sitting in the Orion capsule.

The Artemis-2 mission is the first manned mission to take humans to the Moon in 54 years. This is not just a routine flight, but the beginning of a new era of human space travel. This is the first time humans have gone to the Moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. In this mission, four astronauts will orbit the Moon aboard the Orion spacecraft and then return safely to Earth.
Just an hour before takeoff, the Launch Abort System experienced problems that threatened the launch. This is the system that allows NASA engineers to safely evacuate astronauts in the event of a malfunction. However, the engineers quickly resolved the problem. The countdown was then stopped at 10 minutes for a safety check. Following this, the engineers responsible for the rocket’s various vital systems returned an “OK” report.
