Monday blues for Twitterati were blown away after Parag Agarwal, took to his official handle to write- Elon has decided not to join our board. I sent a brief note to the company, sharing it with you all here. The social media firm’s chief executive said that the company had many discussions with Elon Musk over joining the board.

The usually vocal Musk has not commented on his decision but early Monday morning, he tweeted an emoji of a smiling face, with a hand over its mouth – supposedly an expression of rapture, a smirk, a shy smile, or indicating happiness.

Musk, who disclosed a 9.2 per cent stake in Twitter just a few days ago, was offered a board seat and his appointment was to become effective on Saturday.

The billionaire behind Tesla and SpaceX has been vocal about changes he’d like to effect on the social media platform in the name of free speech.  He wasted no time in appealing to the service’s users about potential changes, from adding an edit button for tweets to giving automatic verification marks to premium users.
