However on May 15 a legal representative informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) that the journalist had been released from custody after providing a written statement. Despite this information, his whereabouts remained unknown until now.
Imran Riaz Khans father, Muhammad Riaz, filed a First Information Report (FIR) on May 16, reporting the alleged abduction of the journalist to the Sialkot Civil Lines Police.
Both Punjab Inspector General Usman Anwar and Sialkot District Police Officer Hassan Iqbal informed Dawn that Imran Riaz Khan is now “safe, at home.”
