Lebanon Pager Blast: Serial blasts in the pagers (communication devices) of Hezbollah members in Lebanon claimed 11 lives on Tuesday at around 3:30 PM (local time). The dead include 2 Hezbollah members and a girl. More than 4 thousand people, including the Iranian ambassador, have been injured, out of which 400 are in critical condition.
The incident, described by a Hezbollah official as the “biggest security breach” in nearly a year of conflict with Israel, has sparked widespread panic and confusion. The militant group has blamed Israel for the pager blasts, saying it will get “its fair punishment”.
Lebanon Pager Blast: How It Happened
The pagers were hacked and then blasted. It is being claimed that Israel is behind this hacking. Hezbollah said that it holds the ‘enemy’ Israel responsible for this attack. However, Israel has not yet reacted to this.
The explosions come amidst the ongoing violence between Hezbollah and Israel, which has intensified since the outbreak of the Gaza war last October. The situation remains fluid, with reports of further detonations in southern Lebanon and the capital, Beirut.
On Tuesday afternoon at around 3:30 pm (local time) suddenly explosions started taking place in people’s pockets in homes, streets and markets in Lebanon. Blasts took place from Lebanon to Syria for almost an hour. Pagers kept exploding in someone’s pocket, in someone’s bag for an hour. Like serial bomb blasts, pagers also kept blasting in homes, markets everywhere. 11 people died in this. 4 thousand people were injured, out of which the condition of 400 people is serious.
