To solidify Britain’s connection with other countries after Brexit, there are rumours that King Charles III and Queen Camilla may soon visit India. The focus that has been made is considered a vital move towards cementing the economic, cultural and diplomatic relations between Britain and the three South Asian countries: India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The trip would be received with even more importance because it would occur when King Charles had successfully undergone his cancer treatment regime, hence beginning a new phase of his kingship.
British Royal couple will be welcomed warmly by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and this journey is considered extremely important for both of these nations. Before all of this, the royal couple was supposed to have a tour in India that was cancelled in 2022 following the demise of Queen Elizabeth II. Insiders of the royal family have confirmed travel to the Indian subcontinent will commence as scheduled later this year. “This has become really inspiring seeing these plans being implemented, especially knowing that this monarch has faced many issues this year,” an insider said. The tour is believed to give Britain a stronger political and cultural attachment to the international scene, especially at this time.
The planned state visit by the royal couple to India, as well as a possible visit to Pakistan and Bangladesh, is still on anvil. The British officials are in discussions with the respective governments to work on modalities. King Charles III has many times toured India in his lifetime, making ten official visits while being the Prince of Wales.
The last physical interaction in 2019 was to enhance the partnership between visiting unknown categories and, more recently, the King and Queen of bed & breakfast to India for a retreat after their Australia and Samoa tours.
