On Tuesday, US Vice President Kamala Harris received her first dose of the Moderna Covid-19 Vaccine before live television cameras, for convincing the US public that the vaccinations are safe.
The vice president-elect took the first dose of the vaccine at United Medical Center in southeast Washington DC and said her husband Douglas Emhoff would do the same. “That was easy! Thank You. I just barely felt it. I barely felt it”, Harris said after receiving the shot.
The US Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency use authorization for two coronavirus vaccines: one from the Moderna and another from Pfizer/BioNTech. Both vaccines have shown equal efficacy levels of nearly 95% percent, and both of them require two doses administered several weeks apart.
Hence, to boost the confidence of the US Public, she added that “I trust scientists. And it is the scientists who created and approved this vaccine. So I urge everyone, when it is your turn, get vaccinated”. She took the vaccine one week after President-elect Joe Biden received his first vaccination for the virus. She further described that the vaccine was relatively painless and urged all Americans to get vaccinated for the virus.
