Kamala Harris was accused of insensitivity on social media due to her reaction to Hurricane Helene after she started her trip to Georgia, the scene of the disaster where she got to meet some of the victims. Some of the so-called netizens complained that her response came very late and that she was an INA Ranger in the disaster. Harris went to Augusta to evaluate the situation and meet people who were affected, but some did not appreciate her timing.
While Kamala Harris explained her willingness to assist in the recovery processes, what followed in the shares of netizens showed that more must be done in terms of support. In consequence, after reviewing the situation with Hurricane Nicole in Georgia, President Joe Biden agreed to provide Governor Brian Kemp with full compensation for all local cleanup expenses. According to the FEMA, there is $750 available cash assistance for individuals with immediate needs. This figure elicited the anger that reacting to Harris’s comments on social media doing the round that the $750 was inadequate in view of the devastation.

Harris posted her interactions and also left a message to commend the organizations that are affected. “A few days ago, people of the southeast suffered losses and destruction. I am specifically reminded of the plight of the American grievers as I interact with them today in Augusta Georgia, and many more are still affected by Hurricane Helene. I also got briefings from those who are awake all through helping people in the field. Significant additional effort is required to support the recovery of communities,” she wrote.
Such angry comments can be again seen in the comments section. As one of the users commented: “Did you also get the update that FEMA doesn’t have enough money for hurricane victims because you flooded our country with illegals?” Another complained about the amount of money being allocated to them, saying, “They need $750 A WEEK!” Not $750 one time!” Some of them wondered why there were no ‘rescues’ during the storming phase.
