Kabul: Turkey And Uzbekistan To Resume Flights; India Has Yet To Decide Whether To Resume Services

Kabul: While the Indian government has yet to make a final decision on the resumption of flights to Kabul, International Radar reported that a flight from Turkey and Uzbekistan will arrive at Hamid Karzai International Airport on Thursday. 

This is the first time Kabul has hosted commercial flights from the two countries since the Taliban took over. Earlier, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan asked the Indian government in a letter to resume commercial flights to Afghanistan.

However, India’s decision to resume commercial flights to Afghanistan is still being considered. “The Ministry of Civil Aviation is reviewing the decision to resume flights to Kabul,” a ministry official said. The Taliban recently requested that India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), reopen commercial flights to Kabul, which had been suspended since August 15.

The Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) has also requested that the national carrier of Afghanistan resume commercial flight services between India and Kabul. According to a letter sent from Afghanistan’s civil aviation to India’s civil aviation, the technical team of Qatar has activated the Kabul International Airport, which is now fully operational.
