In the Gaza Strip, Israeli raids targeted at least nine Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, report officials. The strikes took place during the third year of the 15-month-long fierce war that did not seem to be abating even in the new year.
A house was hit in the northern Gaza Strip’s Jabaliya, where seven people were killed, among which four were children and a woman. The area has been severely affected because of a vigorous Israeli operation that started in the early part of October. At least a dozen were injured, and others were killed when Gaza’s Health Ministry released its list of those killed in the attack.
At the same time, another overnight attack was recorded in the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. The al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital said a woman and a child were killed and their bodies taken to the facility.
The war that is still going on to this day started on October 7, 2023, after a deadly attack by Hamas-led militants on the southern part of Israel. That particular assault was observed as causing 1,500 casualties and 250 fifty hostages. The IDF believes that roughly 100 of the hostages remain in Gaza, and the death toll of at least a third cannot be ruled out.
Gaza Health Ministry announced that Israel’s air and ground operation has resulted in the deaths of more than 45 thousand Palestinians. It stresses that more than 50 percent of the casualties are female and children, while the death toll of militants is also unknown. The Israeli military has stated its operations are only against militants and complained that Hamas places its own people in harm’s way by staging operations in civilian areas. Documented, it says it has exterminated 17,000 militants despite no offering of any proof.
Gaza was destroyed in the war, and currently, more than 2.3 million people are leaving the country, and 90% of them are homeless. Night temperatures have dropped below 10°C; therefore, most families sleep in tents along the coast and are exposed to rain storms and very cold nights most of the time. Unfortunately, at least four children have died from hypothermia.
